Configuring
for Dial-Up: Windows NT
System Requirements

A valid ABAC account and password
- Any computer with Windows NT
- Modem 56K (v.90)

Step 1 Install Your Modem
Install
your modem according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Double-click
My Computer and then Dial-Up
Networking.

Step
2 Install Dial-Up Networking
If
you have not previously used Dial-Up Networking, you will
see a window like this. Click Install to begin installing
Dial-Up Networking.

If you HAVE used Dial-Up Networking previously, skip to Step
3. **
If
you are asked the location of the Windows NT installation
files, click Browse. Navigate to either the Windows NT Installation
CD or to the directory, on your hard drive or network, that
contains the Windows NT installation files.

If you do not yet have a modem installed, you will see this
prompt and be guided through installing a modem. Click Yes
to start the installation process.

Let Windows NT attempt to detect your modem by clicking
Next.

-
If Windows NT cannot identify your modem automatically,
click Change. The modem description should match the manufacturer
and model number.

-
If necessary, select your modem's manufacturer and model.

-
If your modem is not listed, click Have Disk and install
your modem from the diskettes provided by your modem's manufacturer.
-
Click Next after the modem is installed.

Enter your area code, click Next, and then click Finish
on the last screen. Your modem has now been set up successfully.

Click OK to let Windows NT configure your modem as an RAS
(Remote Access Service) device.

- Click Continue.
-
Windows NT may need to restart your computer to complete
the installation. Click Restart.

Step
3 Configuring the ABAC Phonebook Entry
-
Double-click Dial-Up Networking.

- If your phonebook is empty you will see this window. Click
OK.
-
If you already have a phonebook, click New to start the
New Phonebook Entry Wizard.

-
Enter ABAC for the name of the new phonebook entry. Click
Next.

-
Select the following options:
1.
I am calling the Internet.
2. Send my plain text password if that's the only way
to connect.
-
Click Next.

- Enter the modem pool phone number you wish to dial.
- Click Close.

Step
4 Testing the Connection
-
Double-click My Computer and then Dial-Up Networking.
- Select ABAC from the Phonebook entry to dial drop-down
list and then click Dial.
- Enter your account ID (i.e. u431xxxx, g451xxxx) and password.

Tip: If there is any entry in the Domain field, you
may blank it out.
- Click OK.
-
Your modem will dial and send your ID and password.

Tip: If you enter an incorrect account ID or password,
you will see this screen.
Click OK and try again.
- You will see this window when you establish a successful
connection.
- You may want to select Do not display again if you do
not want to this window to display each subsequent time
you connect.

Now you can start a program such as Internet Explorer or
Netscape that uses your network connection.
Disconnecting
-
Before you disconnect, exit from each of the network programs
you started.
- Click the connected computers icon in the taskbar on the
bottom of your screen.
- Click Hang up to close your connection.

- Click Yes to disconnect your modem.
