| Step
1: What to Delete |
When you download your mail messages and look through them, take
a moment to decide if you're looking at a message you'll need
later. You must save important information, of course. But if
you're looking at information you won't need again, throw it away!
You will be able to find what you need more efficiently; you'll
save disk space, and backups will be quicker.

2: Select First Message |
In the main screen of Eudora, select In or another mailbox with
some clutter you'd like to clean. Click the first "clutter"
message to be deleted to select it.

3: Select Multiple Messages |
If you need to delete other messages in the same mailbox, hold
down the <Ctrl> key and click each additional message to
be deleted. This does a multiple message select, so you can send
them all to the trash at once. Click the trash can to send the
messages to the trash. Trash is really a separate mail box from
which you can still retrieve messages, until the trash is emptied.
See the tutorial, "Using the trash box."

4: Delete a Mailbox |
If you need to delete a mailbox, you can not drag it to the trash,
or click the trash can. In fact, if you select a mailbox and click
the trash can, Eudora will delete mail messages. A mailbox can
only be deleted if you select it, then press the Delete key on
the keyboard. Click the Newsletters mailbox then press the Delete
key.

5: Confirm Delete |
If you try to delete a mailbox that's not empty, a warning message
appears asking for a confirmation. It does this because messages
in the mailbox will be deleted permanently. As it says in the
warning, there is no "undo" for deleted mailboxes. Empty
mailboxes could easily be added again. It is deleting mailboxes
with messages that presents the biggest danger. If you are sure,
confirm the delete.
