| Step
1: Connect to Your ISP |
The following tutorials assume that you have received some email
messages. If you have not done so already, connect to your Internet
Service Provider now.
| Step
2: Download Messages |
Select File / Check Mail. In some cases, this will launch the
ISP connection automatically. If the login to the email account
is successful, a box will be displayed telling you whether you
have new mail or not. If an error occurs, contact your ISP or
email provider to solve the problem. If you have a dialup ISP
connection, you may disconnect it after checking and sending are
completed.

| Step
3: Understanding Follow-Ups |
When you receive email, there are three follow-up actions, all
similar. They are Reply, Reply All, and Forward. With Reply, you
compose a new message to the sender of the original message. Reply
all is the same except all original recipients will get the message.
With forward, you choose a new recipient for the message. All
these allow you to quote the original message and add comments.
When you're reading a message, all these follow-ups are available
as buttons on the Eudora tool bar.

| Step
4: Open a Message |
In your "in" box, find a message to which you'd like
to send a reply. Open the message and read it.
| Step
5: Select Reply |
Click the Reply button (single message going back) and a new mail
message is started; it goes from your address to the sender of
the original message. You may add other recipients, either o the
To or CC fields.
| Step
6: Edit Quoted Text |
Notice that in the body of the reply message, the original message
is quoted with greater-than signs to the left. This is a common
way of quoting text in replies and forwarded messages. It is considered
bad style to include the entire quoted body of long original messages,
because a message could get quoted several times in an exchange
of emails. Instead, you can use the ellipsis (.) to show that
part of the original has been deleted. Add your comments to the
message.
| Step
7: Send or Queue |
Once you have added and proofread your comments, you are ready
to send or queue your reply message. The Reply All and Forward
follow-up actions are the same as the Reply except for the addressing
differences.
