Set Dialup Information

Step 1: Look at Eudora Settings

Look at Eudora Settings

From the Eudora main screen, choose Tools / Options, then scroll down to Dialup and select it. These dialup options are there for compatibility with older versions of Windows and are not needed with Windows 95 and later. Instead, we will go to Internet options setup for the dialup settings. Close the Eudora options screen.

Step 2: Start Internet Options

Start Internet Options

Select Start / Settings / Control Panel. Start Internet or Internet Options from the Control Panel screen.

Step 3: Select Connections

Select Connections

Select the Connections tab. The example shown is for Windows 98, but the functions and setup of other Windows versions are similar. If the Dial-up settings list is empty, you may run the wizard now, from this screen. You'll need to know your dialup username and password, and your local ISP access number; the ISP can give you these. The username and password may be the same as for the mailbox account.

Step 4: Check Connection Settings

Check Connection Settings

Select one of the entries in the "connections" list, and click Settings. This screen contains the username and password of the account, in case they ever need to be changed.

Step 5: Check Properties

Check Properties

Click Properties and you can see where the modem and local access number are selected. Click the Server Types tab, and look at the check boxes for NetBEUI and IPX/SPX. For most ISPs these should be unchecked, so Dial-up Networking will not try to log in to domains that do not exist. If you just created the dialup entry, uncheck these boxes unless you've been instructed otherwise. Click OK, then OK again, to dismiss the account properties. Click OK again and dismiss the Control Panel.
