Configuration:
Rules
AuNet offers
a powerful server-side mail filtering facility. The filtering facility
automatically performs specified actions against messages matching certain
criteria. Filtering rules can search for specific text in a message's
From, To, CC, or Subject fields, or the entire message body, and automatically
Delete, Forward, Copy, or Move matching messages. Au Web Mail Rules are
applied right on the Au Web Mail server before incoming mail is deposited
in your Inbox. For this reason, Au Web Mail Rules will work regardless
of which mail client you use, and for this reason are highly recommended
over similar features offered by standalone mail clients, such as Netscape
Messenger and Outlook Express.

Creating
New Rules
To create a new filtering rule, click the button at the bottom of the
Rules window specifying what type of rules you would like to create. NIMS
can create four different types of rules:
Move
To - Move To rules move messages matching the specified
criteria to a specific folder.
CC To - CC To rules send a copy of messages matching the
specified criteria to a specified e-mail address.
Delete - Delete rules delete messages matching the specified
criteria.
Forward To - Forward To rules
forward messages matching the specified criteria to a specified e-mail
address.
Once you have selected the type of rule you wish to create, you must specify
to which messages the rule is to apply. You can ask Au Web Mail to look
for a specific From, To, or CC address, or look for a keyword in the Subject
or Body of the message. Select which field you would like to search and
specify what keyword or address to match.
For Move
To rules, you will need to
select which folder Web Mail is to move messages matching the criteria
to. For Forward To
or CC To rules, you will
need to specify a destination e-mail address.
Deleting
a Rule
To delete a rule, simply click the Delete
link to the right of the rule in the rules listing.
Temporarily
Deactivating a Rule
Sometimes you may wish to temporarily deactivate a rule without deleting
it. To deactivate a rule, uncheck the checkbox to the left of the rule
and then click the Save button.
To reactivate a rule, click the checkbox to the left of it, and then click
the Save button. |
